Fugo's Video Stream app lets you broadcast a live or on-demand video stream directly onto your digital signage screens - an event, an IPTV or in-house channel, a product loop, or a live sports feed - without a dedicated laptop or extra hardware plugged into the TV.

For the people looking at the screen: the stream just plays, either looping continuously (for on-demand content) or running live, alongside anything else you've built into that slide or playlist.

For whoever's setting it up: all Fugo needs is a direct link to your stream in HLS format. There's no third-party account to authorize here, unlike some of Fugo's other app integrations - you're just pointing the app at a stream URL. If you want that exact same moment of the stream to play in lockstep across several screens at once - handy for a sports bar or a large venue with multiple displays - you can turn on synchronized playback, covered in Configuring your Video Stream app settings below.

Everything you display on a screen is published through a playlist. There are three ways to get the Video Stream app into a playlist:

Whichever route you take, you'll end up configuring the same Video Stream settings. We'll walk through all three options below.

1. Log into your Fugo account. If you don't have one yet, you can start your 14-day free trial here.

2. Open the Playlists page from the lefthand navigation panel. Then click Create Playlist.

3. This opens the playlist editor, which will walk you through four steps:

Content → Screens → Schedule → Preview.

You'll land on the Content step first.

4. Switch the source selector to Apps.

5. Either scroll or use the search bar to find the Video Stream app and click its card.

If you plan to display more than one stream, you can click the app as many times as needed to create multiple instances of it.

6. Your app instance(s) will be added to the content list on the right.

7. In your content list, find the Video Stream item and click its gear icon to open its settings.

8. Configure the app as covered in Configuring your Video Stream app settings below, then click Save.

9. Continue to Screens, Schedule, and Preview as covered in How to publish your playlist to a screen below.

1. Click Studio in the top navigation, then click Create or Get started to start a new design.

2. In the left-hand content menu, open the Apps tab.

3. Either scroll or use the search bar to find the Video Stream app, then click the app or drag and drop it onto your canvas.

4. Drag its blue resize handles to size and position it - full screen, or shrunk down to share the slide with other content.

5. With the app tile selected, click the gear/cog icon in the contextual toolbar above it to open the Video Stream app settings.

6. Configure the app as covered in Configuring your Video Stream app settings below, then click Save when you're done.

7. Customize the rest of the canvas as you like. Some ideas:

8. To add another slide with another stream, add another slide and instance of the Video Stream app.

9. Name your design when you're done with it and click Save. Then click Back to Fugo to exit out of the Design Studio.

10. Go to the Playlists page and create (or open) a playlist.

11. In the Content step, switch the source selector to Studio, and select the design you just saved - it'll be added to your content list on the right, just like any other item.

12. Continue the steps through Screens, Schedule, and Preview as covered in How to publish your playlist to a screen below.

1. Click Apps in the left navigation to open the App Store.

2. Either scroll or use the search bar to find the Video Stream app, then click its card to open its details panel.

3. Review the app's details if you like (price, supported players, version), then click Publish.

4. In the Publish app window, the Playlist tab is selected by default. Search for an existing playlist, or click Create new playlist to start a new one - each playlist in the list shows its Draft/Published status and item count to help you pick the right one.

A Screen tab is also available if you'd rather publish straight to a specific screen instead of a playlist.

5. Once you pick (or create) a playlist, you'll land straight in the same Video Stream settings covered in Configuring your Video Stream app settings below. Configure the app and click Save.

6. If you added it to a playlist, continue to Screens, Schedule, and Preview as covered in How to publish your playlist to a screen below.

Whether you opened it from a playlist or from the Studio, the Video Stream app settings work the same way:

How long this slide displays before moving to the next slide, if it's part of a rotation with other content. This isn't detected automatically from the stream - it's the same manual per-slide timer used across Fugo's other apps, and defaults to 30 seconds.

If your video exceeds 30 seconds, Fugo will default to playing the entire video through (rather than cutting off at 30 seconds).

MP4 links may also work, though support is not guaranteed.

To sync video playback across multiple screens, you'll need to set up a proxy server using the HLS-Proxy tool.

This proxy sits between your players and the original video stream, so every screen pulls the exact same stream data needed for aligned, time-synced playback.

To use it:

Toggle this on to synchronize playback across multiple screens. When enabled, every screen connected to the same stream through the same proxy server plays the video at the same point in time.

This creates a seamless viewing experience across your network - especially useful in venues with multiple displays, like bars or event spaces, where it would look off if screens were even a second or two out of step with each other.

For this to work as intended, pair it with a Proxy URL (see above) - without a shared proxy, each screen is simply fetching the stream independently and has no common reference point to sync against.

Toggle on Mute if you want the stream to play without sound. Audio plays by default.

Click Save once you're happy with your settings.

Once your Video Stream app (or a Studio design containing it) is in a playlist's content list:

1. In the Screens step, select one or more screens to publish to.

Use the By Screen tab to pick specific screens or screen groups individually, or switch to the By Property tab to target any screen that has a matching custom property instead - for example, publishing to every screen tagged Location: Chicago or Department: Sales, without selecting each one by name.

2. In the Schedule step (optional), choose how this content should run:

3. Use Preview to check how it'll look on screen. All your playlist settings will be listed on the righthand panel for you to review.

4. Make sure to give your playlist a name, then click Save and Publish to push it live, or Save to keep it as a draft you can come back to.
