About this guide

This is the setup guide for connecting Fugo's MCP connector to Claude specifically - covering the connection steps, example prompts, and troubleshooting for Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, and Claude Code.

For what the connector is, what it can do across every supported assistant, and how permissions and security work, see the Fugo MCP Overview first if you haven't already.

Why connect Claude to Fugo?

Tasks that normally take several screens in the CMS - upload a file, build a playlist, target the right screens, fire it - can be done as one conversational request once Claude is connected. You describe the outcome you want, and Claude works out the sequence of steps to get there, confirming the details with you before anything actually changes.

That's especially useful in two situations:

  • When something needs to happen right now and you don't want to hunt through menus to do it (switching a screen over to an urgent announcement mid-event, for example), and

  • When the person who needs to make a change isn't someone who normally lives in the Fugo CMS - a manager covering for the usual screen operator, or someone helping out during a busy day.

Since you're describing what you want in plain language rather than clicking through the UI, connecting Claude lowers the bar for getting something done correctly without CMS training.

Setting up the connector

Add Fugo as a custom connector (Claude.ai or Claude Desktop)

This is the quickest way, and it works the same on both Claude.ai (web) and Claude Desktop.

  1. Open Settings → Connectors.

  2. Click Add custom connector.

  3. Enter the Fugo server address: https://api.fugo.ai/mcp

  4. A browser window opens for Fugo sign-in - enter your Fugo email and password.

  5. Approve the connection. Claude will confirm Fugo is connected.

No developer keys or admin seat are required - if you can sign in to your Fugo account, you can connect it. (On Claude.ai, adding a custom connector requires a paid plan.)

Claude Code (CLI)

  1. Run: claude mcp add --transport http fugo https://api.fugo.ai/mcp

  2. In Claude Code, run /mcp, select Fugo, and choose Authenticate - a browser opens for Fugo sign-in.

From the Connectors directory (coming soon)

Fugo isn't in Claude's Connectors directory yet - we're waiting on the listing. Once it's live, you'll be able to add Fugo without pasting the URL: open the Connectors menu in Claude.ai (the puzzle-piece or plug icon in the chat composer), search for Fugo, and choose Connect. Until then, use the custom connector method above.

Example prompts

Try starting with prompts like these:

  • "List all screens in our London Spaces and show which playlist each one is running right now."

  • "Upload this week's promo video to the Marketing space and create a playlist called 'Weekly Promo' that runs it on every UK screen starting Monday."

  • "Create a manual trigger called 'Fire Drill' that I can fire on every screen in the Warehouse space."

  • "Share this announcement image to all the lobby screens right now, then stop it again in an hour."

Be specific about Space names, screens, and dates - Claude will confirm the details with you before anything changes, so being precise up front catches mistakes early.

Troubleshooting

Claude can't see my Spaces or screens

Make sure you completed the sign-in step during setup. Try removing and re-adding the connector if the issue persists.

Uploading from a URL failed

The URL needs to be publicly accessible without a login. If your file lives in a private SharePoint or Google Drive folder, generate a public share link first, or upload the file a different way.

Claude took the wrong action

Be specific about Space name, screens, and dates in your request, and read the confirmation step carefully before approving it - that's your chance to catch a mistake before it happens.

I want to test this without touching real screens

Create a test Space in Fugo with a couple of test screens and ask Claude to work only within that Space.
