What is the Fugo player for Google Meet?

The Fugo player for Google Meet lets you display digital signage content on your meeting room screens whenever no meeting is in progress. When a meeting starts, Google Meet takes over. When it ends, Fugo resumes automatically.

Whether you're running Google Meet Hardware (certified room kits) or ChromeOS devices such as a Chromebox or Chromebase, you can use Fugo to keep your room screens active, on-brand, and useful between sessions.

Use it to:

  • Display room schedules and availability on idle meeting room screens

  • Show company announcements, KPIs, or dashboards between sessions

  • Keep meeting room displays on-brand at all times

💡 Note: To follow this guide, you'll need an active Fugo account with at least one available screen license, and admin access to the Google Admin Console. Sign up for a free Fugo trial here: https://www.fugo.ai/app/auth/signup

What you'll need

  • An active Fugo account (https://www.fugo.ai/app) with at least one available screen license

  • Content already set up in Fugo - a playlist, media file, or app

  • A Google Workspace account with admin access to the Google Admin Console (https://admin.google.com)

  • Google Meet Hardware or a ChromeOS device (Chromebox or Chromebase) enrolled in your Google Admin Console

  • A stable internet connection (minimum 3 Mbps per participant, latency under 50 ms recommended)

💡 Note: If you haven't enrolled your Google Meet Hardware or ChromeOS device yet, follow Google's official setup guides before continuing:

How to connect Google Meet screens to Fugo

Create a virtual screen and copy your URL

Fugo's virtual screens give you a unique URL that you can plug directly into Google Meet as the screensaver source - no physical pairing required. Each Google Meet device needs its own virtual screen and URL.

1. Open your Fugo CMS (https://app.fugo.ai) and log in.

2. Go to the Screens page and click Add Screen.

3. Select Virtual Screen from the screen type options.

4. Give your virtual screen a name - for example, "Meet Room 1" - and click Create.

5. Assign a playlist or content to the virtual screen.

6. Open the virtual screen settings and click Copy URL to copy the unique player URL to your clipboard.

⚠️ Important: Paste the URL somewhere safe - such as a note or Slack message - before continuing. You'll need it in the next section. Each virtual screen URL can only be used on one device at a time. Using the same URL on another device will cause one of the players to disconnect.

Set Fugo as the screensaver for Google Meet Hardware

Now that you have your virtual screen URL, you can configure it as the idle screensaver for your Google Meet device via the Google Admin Console.

1. Go to admin.google.com and sign in with your admin account.

2. In the Admin Console, navigate to Devices → Google Meet hardware → Settings.

3. Find and select Screensaver.

4. From the device list on the left, select the specific device you want to configure. Each device requires its own virtual screen URL - you cannot apply the same URL to multiple devices.

5. On the selected device, scroll down to Screensaver.

6. Under Content, apply the following settings:

  • Set Content type to Custom

  • Set Digital Signage provider to None

  • Paste your Fugo virtual screen URL into the URL field

  • Set Start after this many minutes of inactivity - we recommend 1 minute

  • Set Show the Meet home screen this many minutes before the next meeting - we recommend 5 minutes

7. Click Save.

8. Wait for the Fugo player to appear on your Google Meet hardware screen. Changes in the Google Admin Console can take up to 5 minutes to apply to your device.

That's it! Once your Google Meet device has been idle for the configured period, it will automatically display your Fugo content. When a meeting starts, Google Meet takes over. When the meeting ends, Fugo resumes.

Notes and limitations

  • Each Fugo virtual screen URL can only be used on one device at a time. Using the same URL on a second device will disconnect the first. Create a separate virtual screen for each Google Meet device.

  • Dual-screen setups are not currently supported.

  • Changes made in the Google Admin Console can take several minutes to apply to your device.

  • Make sure your network allows access to Fugo services. Contact support@fugo.ai if you need a list of domains to whitelist.
