How To Use Dashboard Streaming with Your Windows Player

Set up a restricted custom dashboard to stream from your Windows player using on-premise playback.

Some dashboards can't be reached from Fugo's cloud - they sit behind a login, on a local network, or otherwise restrict where they can be opened from. Dashboard Streaming lets you point a Windows player at those dashboards directly, so the player handles the login flow and renders the dashboard locally before streaming it to your screen.

This guide walks you through setting up a Custom URL dashboard with player-local streaming enabled.

This feature is an advanced setting available from the "On-Premise Settings" tab of your dashboard.

You can learn more about the Dashboards feauture suite and dashboard settings in our Dashboards Overview.

Before you start

💡 You'll need the latest Windows player installed on the device that will display the dashboard. Download the latest Windows player before continuing.

You'll also want to have the following ready:

  • The destination URL of the dashboard you want to display

  • The username and password used to access it

  • Optional: The login URL, if your dashboard doesn't automatically redirect to a login screen

Step 1: Create a Custom URL dashboard

In the Fugo CMS, navigate to the Dashboards page and click Create dashboard.

This will open the new dashboard modal. Select the Custom URL option.

Step 2: Enter your dashboard details

Fill in your destination URL (that is, the URL of your dashboard) along with the username and password used to access it.

If the dashboard doesn't automatically redirect you to a login page, expand the Advanced section and enter your Login URL as well.

☝️ If your dashboard is restricted to a local network or a specific device, it will fail to load when previewed in the CMS — the CMS defaults to the cloud renderer, which won't be able to reach it. This is expected. The next step moves rendering onto your player, where the dashboard is reachable.

Step 3: Enable player-local rendering

Open the On-Premise tab on your new dashboard and turn on Use player for running steps.

With that enabled, you can also turn on Streaming to stream the rendered dashboard from the player to your screen.

Click Save to apply your settings.

Step 4: Publish to your Windows player

Add the dashboard to a playlist or screen as you normally would and publish it to your Windows player. The player will handle the login locally and stream the dashboard to your screen.
