BrightSign Hardware Directory

This article lays out the minimum requirements for hardware running BrightSignOS, and lists recommended & supported devices.

Minimum requirements

  • BrightSign OS 8.x or newer

  • 2 GB of RAM or higher

⚠️ Firmware: we recommend staying on 9.0.211. That is the version running on our own players and the one we have verified end to end. BrightSign OS 9.1.92 and 9.1.93.2 are known to break remote screenshots, so screens on those versions stop returning previews in Fugo. If your players are set to update firmware automatically, we suggest turning that off and moving only to versions we have confirmed.

Not yet supported: Series 6

BrightSign's Series 6 players (HD226, HD1026, XD236 and XD1036) are not yet verified with Fugo. Series 6 hardware requires a newer BrightSign OS than the version we currently test against, so we cannot confirm playback or remote screenshots on it. If you are buying now, choose a Series 5 player from the list above. We will update this article once Series 6 has been tested.

  • BrightSign LS (LS322 and LS422 models)

  • BrightSign XD (XD230, XD1030 and XD1230 models)

  • BrightSign HD (HD120, HD220 and HD1020 models)

  • BrightSign AU (AU320 model)

Performance notes

Supported File Types

  • Image: JPEG, JPEG 2000, WebP, SVG, GIF

  • Video Container: MP4,MPG, MPEG, MOV, AVI

  • Audio: MP3

  • Documents: PDF

☝️ PNG images do not play on BrightSign players. Most design tools export PNG by default, so convert images to JPEG or WebP before adding them to a playlist that runs on BrightSign.

Known Limitations

  • The LS4 (LS424) model requires a constant network connection for stable operation. This does not apply to the Series 5 LS425 and LS445.

  • PNG images are not supported, see the note above.

  • Remote screenshots do not work on BrightSign OS 9.1.92 or 9.1.93.2.
