Table of contents
New to Fugo? Welcome! This guide will get you oriented and walk you through the two things every new account needs: a screen connected to Fugo, and a playlist of content published to it.
If you'd rather explore hands-on first, that's fine too - you can always come back here. And if you haven't signed up yet, you can start a free trial before working through the steps below.
You can log into your account at www.fugo.ai/app.
Get your bearings
Before you pair a screen or touch a playlist, it's worth spending a minute getting oriented. Fugo has a specific place for everything, and knowing the shape of it now will save you some hunting later.
Your Home page
When you log in, you land on Home.
New accounts get a Learn the basics checklist right there, which tracks the same four things this guide covers - adding content, adding a screen, creating a playlist, and publishing it -and checks each one off automatically as you go.
Finding your way around
The sidebar on the left is organized around what you're trying to do. Pin it keep it expanded:
Screens - where you'll manage every device you've connected to Fugo.
Playlists - where you'll build and schedule the playlists that publish content to your screens.
Fallback - where you'll set a fallback playlist (content that plays automatically whenever a screen has nothing else scheduled).
Triggers - where you'll manage Triggers (playlists that fire automatically - on a button press, a scheduled time, or an event in a connected system like HubSpot or Salesforce - instead of running on a regular rotation).
Media - where you'll upload and organize the images, videos, and other files you use in your content.
Apps - where you'll find Fugo's ready-made integrations, like weather, news, and social feeds.
Studio - where you'll design your own slides, combining media, text, apps, and dashboard data on a single canvas.
Dashboards - where you'll turn reports & dashboards (including ones behind a login) into an auto-updating view on screen, refreshed on a schedule you set
Planner - a calendar view of what's scheduled to play and when.
At the very bottom of the navigation bar, you'll find your Account menu - expand it to open up your settings for billing, users, and more:
You'll also find Ask Fugo at the bottom of the sidebar - an in-app assistant you can ask product questions any time you're not sure where something lives:
Spaces
Every Fugo account is organized into Spaces. A Space is a hard boundary - the screens, playlists, media, and dashboards that belong to one Space aren't visible from another. Many accounts only ever need one Space, and you probably won't need to think about this while you're just getting set up.
It matters more once you're managing separate teams, departments, or locations that shouldn't see each other's content - it's worth knowing it's there for when that day comes or if you've been added to Fugo as ad admin of an existing multi-space account.
You can switch between spaces via the space switcher in the navigation bar:
What you'll need
To get your first screen live, you'll need three things:
A device to run Fugo on
A computer or browser to manage your account from
Something to display
If you've already got hardware sorted, skip ahead to Step 1.
Choosing a device
Fugo runs on a wide range of hardware, so there's no single right answer here - it depends on what you've already got and how much you want to manage. There are three starting points:
Buy new Fugo-ready hardware
If you're buying new, our own Fugo NUC comes preconfigured to work with Fugo out of the box. See the setup guide.
And the Amazon Signage Stick is our current recommended plug-and-play option if you'd rather buy through Amazon or use a budget-friendly device that's still purpose-built for signage use cases.
The Amazon Signage Stick is available from the following Amazon marketplaces:
United States (Amazon.com) - $99.99
Canada (Amazon.ca) - C$174.99
Germany (Amazon.de) - €151.99
Spain (Amazon.es) - €151.99
France (Amazon.fr) - €151.99
Italy (Amazon.it) - €151.99
United Kingdom (Amazon.co.uk) - £151.99
Use hardware you already have
Fugo also runs on most consumer and commercial displays and media players - Android, Windows, Linux, macOS, ChromeOS, BrightSign, Samsung Smart Signage Platform, LG webOS, and IAdea are all supported today.
See our full hardware and OS compatibility guide for minimum requirements on each platform and dedicated setup guides.
Try Fugo without any hardware
You don't need a physical screen to start exploring Fugo. Two browser-based options let you pair a screen without any device at all:
Web Player (also called the browser player) - pairs a browser tab to your account like any other screen. See the Web Player Setup Guide.
Chrome extension player - runs the Fugo player app as a Chrome extension, so it pairs and plays just like a dedicated device. See the Chrome Extension Player Setup Guide.
Either is a good way to work through the rest of this guide on a trial account before you've settled on hardware.
💡 Note that in order to complete step 1 below (pairing your first screen), you will need the Fugo player application installed and running on your device.
Step 1: Add your first screen
Go to Screens in the sidebar and click Add screen.
You'll be asked to choose what kind of screen you're adding:
Physical screen
This is the option most people use, and it's how you'll connect real hardware (as well as the Web player or Chrome extension player mentioned above.)
Open the Fugo player app on your device - either the Fugo app for your platform, or player.fugo.ai in a browser - and it will display a 4-digit pairing code, along with a QR code you can scan instead of typing it in.
Enter that code in Fugo (or scan the QR code) to connect the screen to your account.
Virtual screen
Creates a shareable browser link that shows your content without any device at all - useful for previewing what you're building before you have hardware in hand, or for sharing content somewhere a physical screen doesn't make sense (like in your Intranet or sharing out to your organization).
Test screen
A free, watermarked screen that stays available for the life of your account and doesn't count toward your screen licenses. Rather than a stepping stone to real hardware, think of it as a permanent sandbox - a place to try out new playlists, apps, or designs before you push them to a live screen.
Name and set up your screen
Once pairing succeeds, Fugo will ask you to name your screen. Pick something that'll help you recognize it later, especially once you've got more than one (something like "Lobby TV" or "Warehouse - Bay 3" works better than the default).
After that you'll be offered a couple of optional steps - setting a location and orientation, and adding labels or properties - which you can fill in now or skip and come back to later from the screen's settings.
When you're done, your screen will be listed as a tile on your Screens page and you'll be ready to start sending it content!

Step 2: Create and publish your first playlist
A playlist is how content actually gets onto your screen - it's a sequence of content, assigned to one or more screens, that plays according to a schedule you set.
Go to Playlists in the sidebar and click Create playlist.
You'll move through four steps: Content, Screens, Schedule, and Preview:
Content
Choose what you want to show. You can pull content from any combination of four sources:
Media - images, videos, and other files you've uploaded to your media library.
Apps - Fugo's built-in integrations, for things like weather, the time, or social feeds.
Dashboards - live, auto-refreshing screenshots of reports or dashboards you use internally, including ones behind a login.
Studio - slides you design yourself in Fugo's built-in design tool, combining media, text, live data, and more on a single canvas.
If you're just getting a feel for things, a single piece of media is a perfectly good place to start - you can always come back and add more later.
💡 Don't have any media in your account? Use the Upload button to add some to your playlist or try choosing an App instead - many apps can be configured right there and then with simple feeds that don't require a login.
Any content you add will accumulate in the right-hand content list. Make sure you configure any apps before moving on.
Screens
Decide where this playlist should play. You can target it two ways:
By Screen
Pick individual screens directly - the straightforward option, and the one you'll probably use for your first playlist.
By Property
Target screens based on a property you've set on them (like a location or department) rather than picking them one by one. Handy once you're managing more screens than you can name individually, but not something you'll need on day one.
Go ahead & add the screen that you paired in Step 1 here:
Schedule
Decide when this playlist should play. There are three options:
Always on
Plays continuously from a start date onwards, with no end date. Good for content you want in steady rotation with no expiry in mind - and the simplest choice while you're just testing things out.
One-off block
Plays continuously between two dates you set. Useful for announcements, promotions, or anything else with a clear start and end.
Recurring
Plays on a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly schedule you define - for content that should show up on a repeating pattern rather than continuously.
Preview
A last look at your playlist before it goes live - check that the right content, screen(s), and schedule are all in place.
Publish it
When you're happy with it, name it and click Publish (or Save and Publish, if you've made changes to an existing playlist) to send it live. If you're not ready yet, Save keeps it as a Draft that you can come back and finish whenever you like - nothing gets published until you choose to.
🥳 That's it! you've got a screen connected and content playing on it. From here, everything else in Fugo builds on the same basic pattern: content, a screen, and a schedule.

Step 3: Invite your team
Fugo gets more useful the more people are involved in it. The people who'll actually use these screens - the ops lead who wants a floor KPI dashboard, the office manager planning next week's event signage - usually have the best sense of what should be on them, and spreading that out means content doesn't all land on one person to keep fresh.
There's no reason to hold off, either: Fugo doesn't charge per user, so you can invite your whole team now, during your trial and beyond, and give each person only the access they need.
Open your Account menu at the bottom of the sidebar, go to Settings, then People, and click Invite people - you'll set their email, which Space they belong to, and their role:
Content sources
You got a quick taste of Media, Apps, Dashboards, and Studio while building your first playlist above - here's a bit more on each, plus one more way to get content on screen that doesn't run on a schedule at all.
Media
Media is your content library: images, videos, audio, and documents you upload directly to Fugo. You can organize everything into folders, and besides uploading from your computer, you can pull files in from Dropbox, Google Drive, or a direct URL.
Anything in Media can be added straight to a playlist, or brought into the Studio as part of a larger design.

Apps
Apps are Fugo's ready-made integrations - dozens of them, covering things like local time and weather, news and social feeds, countdowns, and connections to services like Power BI or Google Calendar.
Add one to a playlist and it keeps itself current on its own, so you're not manually updating the screen every time the underlying information changes.
Studio
The Studio (also called the Design Studio) is Fugo's built-in design tool - a slide builder made specifically for TV screens.
You can combine media, text, live apps, and dashboard data on a single canvas, build out multi-slide sequences, and even add touch navigation for interactive screens. It's the place to go when you want something more custom than a single image or video.

Dashboards
Dashboards bring your existing internal reports onto a screen, including ones that sit behind a login.
You give Fugo the destination URL, how to log in, and a refresh schedule, and Fugo keeps an up-to-date view on screen from there. SSO, two-factor authentication, and passkeys are all supported as part of the login flow, and some dashboards can stream live rather than refresh periodically, depending on your platform.
👉 Dive deeper into Dashboards in our Dashboards Overview
And one more option: Triggers
Everything above plays on a schedule you set. Triggers flip that around: they're playlists that play in response to something happening, rather than on a timer. A Trigger can fire when someone presses the "Play" button in Fugo, at a specific date and time, or when an event happens in a connected system like HubSpot or Salesforce.
It's worth knowing about once you're past the basics.
